Since 1977, Skulptur Projekte has taken place in Münster every ten years, accompanying the city and its inhabitants. Works of art have appeared, remained and disappeared. They have sparked debates, changed the way familiar places are perceived and become part of recent art history. But how do people in Münster remember past editions? Which encounters, anecdotes and stories have stayed with them? Which works of art have left a particular mark? And how have the city, its neighbourhoods and public spaces changed over the past 50 years?

The Schaufensterradio format, developed by medienforum münster e. V., has been bringing radio production out of the studio and into the streets since 2022, making the process of radio-making visible and audible. The joint edition with Skulptur Projekte Münster 2027 is part of the Skulptur Projekte Sessions. For this edition, Domgasse, next to roestbar, will become an open-air radio studio and a place where personal memories and different perspectives on Skulptur Projekte come together - framed by Daniel Buren’s 1987 installation, one of the former 4 Tore [4 Gateways].

A series of short conversations will bring together people who are connected to the city and Skulptur Projekte in different ways. They will share memories of past editions and individual works of art, talk about personal and civic engagement surrounding the exhibition, the practical work involved in installing Skulptur Projekte, changes to public space, and initiatives and ideas that have emerged in connection with Skulptur Projekte.

Passers-by are also invited to contribute their memories: Throughout the morning, stories and anecdotes relating to Skulptur Projekte can be shared and recorded at Prinzipalmarkt. Some of these voices will be incorporated directly into the live broadcast. The format 50 Years in 50 Seconds will launch on the @skulpturprojekte social media channels: in a series of short videos, different people will share a memory from 50 years of Skulptur Projekte in 50 seconds.

The Schaufensterradio will be broadcast live and can be listened to on site in Domgasse, next to roestbar (Am Drubbel 1–2), as well as via webradio münster .

The programme will also be available afterwards on the websites of Skulptur Projekte Münster 2027 and medienforum münster e. V..

This edition of Schaufensterradio is part of the Skulptur Projekte Sessions and a collaboration between Skulptur Projekte Münster 2027 and medienforum münster e. V. with the support of roestbar.
